The app
When does Poker Call launch?
Soon. The app is in a free test on iPhone and Android before it goes into the App Store and Google Play. Leave your email on the home page and we send you a test invite, the odd test update while the test runs (reply STOP any time), then one email on launch day; nothing else, and the address is deleted after launch. Nothing to pre-order and nothing to pay.
Is Poker Call real-money gambling?
No. Poker Call is played with chips that have no monetary value and can never be cashed out, exchanged or sold. You can buy chips to keep playing, and you can never win money. It is rated 18+ because it is poker.
Can I buy chips?
Not in the closed beta: purchases are switched off in the test build our testers use, so nothing can be bought there. From version 1.0 in the App Store and Google Play, yes: chip packs, Tumble ball, wheel spin and Flip packs, card-pack bundles, the House Pass premium track (one 28-day season, two when bought in a season’s last 7 days), The Club monthly membership, a Streak Shield and the Piggy Bank, each price shown in full in your local currency before you confirm and paid through Apple or Google. You never have to buy anything to play, and nothing you buy can ever be cashed out.
Is the poker fair?
Yes. The deck is shuffled server-side with a cryptographically secure random source for every hand, no player or bot sees another player’s cards, and the full method is written up on the fair play page. Practice tables use AI opponents; live cash tables and tournaments seat only people.
Do I have to turn my camera on?
No. Video starts only with your consent. You can play with the camera off and watch everyone who has theirs on. Anyone at the table can see who is on camera and who is not.
How do I get free chips?
A daily allowance refills every day, the Gilt Wheel spins free every four hours, a free Tumble ball lands once a day at your midnight, Flip or Fold gives a free flip every four hours, missions and the streak pay chips, and your friends’ public-table hands fill a shared Crew Chest. Everything free is priced at the rung below the one you play, so it is always worth having and never enough to skip the table.
Why did the store close when I set a break?
Because a break is a break. When you set one, the server closes the store and every staked side game until it ends, and nothing in the app negotiates with you about it. See responsible play.
Are there ads?
No. Poker Call has no third-party ads, no rewarded videos and no data brokers. The only promotions you will ever see are the house’s own chip offers.
Where will Poker Call be available?
Worldwide. At launch it will be in the App Store and Google Play in every country where the stores allow an 18+ play-money poker game, on the same day.
Which phones does it run on?
iPhone (iOS 16 or later) and Android (Android 10 or later). It is a native app, not a website; live video needs a camera and a reasonable connection.
Do I need an account to play?
No. Play as a guest straight away, or sign in with Apple or Google. A guest can link an Apple or Google account later from Settings, which keeps the same chips, stats and friends when you change phones.
What happens if I lose or change my phone?
If your account is linked to Apple or Google, nothing is lost: sign in with the same account on the new phone and your chips, stats and friends come back. A guest account lives on the phone it was made on, so link it from Settings as soon as you can. If a guest who bought something loses their phone, email hello@pokercall.live with an order number from the Apple or Google receipt: if it matches our purchase records, we move the account to the new phone. Without a purchase there is no record that proves the account was yours, so a guest account that never bought anything cannot be recovered.
Can I see who I am playing against?
Yes. Tap any seat for that player’s card: a table persona worked out from how often they pay for flops and raise (Rock, Shark, Calling Station and so on), hands played, win rate, showdowns won, biggest pot, Sit & Go record, and the character stats, from all-ins survived to pots stolen and comebacks from five blinds. Lifetime net winnings stay private to their owner.
Can I use a portrait instead of my camera?
Yes. Choose from 36 portraits of women and men from all over the world, or 16 characters like the shark, the fish, the fox and the owl, under Change portrait in the lobby. Your seat shows the portrait whenever your camera is off.
Who makes Poker Call?
TwoFifths Design Ltd, a design studio in Edinburgh, Scotland, trading as Poker Call. You can reach us at hello@pokercall.live.
The Table
Is there real money involved in Poker Call?
No. Poker Call is played entirely with chips: there is no real-money gambling and no cash prizes, at any table. More about The Table.
Can I bring my chips over from another poker app?
No. Other apps are run by other companies, so we cannot see or check a balance there, and chips are play money that can never be moved between apps, sold or cashed out. Everyone starts level on Poker Call, with free chips every day, and you never have to buy chips to play. More about The Table.
Are the other players at the table real people?
Yes, on every cash, Sit & Go and private table. AI opponents only fill seats on Practice tables, and every non-human seat is clearly labelled. More about The Table.
Who can go on camera?
Only the players seated at a table see and hear each other: people watching from the rail see avatars. At every table, private tables included, turning on a camera or microphone needs an account signed in with Apple or Google; at public tables the microphone starts muted, one tap to talk. Guests still play and watch. Settings lets you hide other players’ video. More about The Table.
What can I see about the other players?
Tap any seat for the player’s card: their table persona, hands played, win rate, showdowns won, biggest pot, best streak, Sit & Go record, badges, how long they have been at the table, and the character stats (all-ins, folds before the flop, rivers seen, pots stolen, 3-bets, check-raises, thinking time, clock-outs, comebacks, times felted). Net winnings are only ever shown to their owner. More about The Table.
What happens if I run out of time to act?
The 15-second clock folds you if there’s a bet to face, or checks you through if there isn’t. You get one 15-second time bank in every hand to use when a decision is close. Miss three turns in a row (or three inside one orbit) and you are sat out: your seat and chips are held for up to five minutes, tap I’m back to play on. While your connection has dropped and your seat is being held for you, the clock acts for you on a short 2-second clock, and those turns are not counted (up to 3 minutes of dropped time in any 30). Lose your last chip and a 90-second rebuy clock runs on your seat: top up before it ends or the chair goes to the next player. More about The Table.
The Gilt Wheel
Is the Gilt Wheel rigged?
No. The server picks the segment before the wheel animates, and the twelve printed percentages are the exact weights it draws from. More about The Gilt Wheel.
How often can I spin the Gilt Wheel for free?
Once every four hours. A Gold Spin is a separate paid bet and never uses up or delays your free spin. More about The Gilt Wheel.
What is the Gold Spin's house edge?
House edge 8%, published (92% back), across nine segments from 0.2x to a 30x top, with weights printed on the wheel. More about The Gilt Wheel.
The Tumble
How do I get Tumble balls?
Make a straight or better at the table and hold to showdown (win or lose the pot, making the hand is what counts), or win the pot when everyone folds and show your cards, or claim the free ball once a day (a new one is ready at your midnight). More about The Tumble.
Does the drop point I pick change the odds?
No. The bumpers at the top of the board catch every ball, so all five chutes have exactly the same odds for every bay: the chute changes the path you watch, not what it pays. More about The Tumble.
Is the staked Tumble board fair?
Yes. House edge 8% (92% back), published, from every one of the five chutes, measured on the wallet, not just the formula. More about The Tumble.
Big Tumble
Do I have to buy anything to enter Big Tumble?
No. Every free Tumble ball you drop enters automatically: there is no separate buy-in. Staked drops enter from the 25 big blind tier up. More about Big Tumble.
How is Big Tumble judged fairly across different rungs?
Drops are ranked by how rare the outcome was: the bay's true chance, shown as 1 in N. That is the same for every ball and every stake, so what a drop pays never decides its place. More about Big Tumble.
When does Big Tumble pay out?
The board settles at midnight UTC and the places the day’s field has reached are paid straight to the wallet the next time anyone checks in. More about Big Tumble.
What happens with a tie on Big Tumble?
Ties split evenly: players with exactly the same score share the places they cover, and those places’ prizes are added together and divided equally. The 1st-place Vault Run pack and the 2nd- and 3rd-place Flip or Fold flips cannot be cut up, so they go one per place in the order the tied score was reached. More about Big Tumble.
The Velvet Bandit
Are the Velvet Bandit's reels real cards?
Yes. Every spin deals five real cards from a freshly shuffled 52-card deck server-side: the odds are the true odds of a poker deck, not slot weighting. More about The Velvet Bandit.
Does every spin pay something on the Velvet Bandit?
Yes. No spin pays nothing, and any pair is a win. Only a high card returns less than your stake (a tenth of it), and the game says so plainly. More about The Velvet Bandit.
What is the house edge on the Velvet Bandit?
A published 6.29%, worked out directly from the printed paytable above. More about The Velvet Bandit.
Ace's Pyramid
Is Ace's Pyramid a fair game?
Yes. Every call shows the real count of cards left above and below before you decide, and the house edge is up to 2% of what you risk; 1% at even odds, plus 7% of every bank. The house keeps 2% of your bet times your chance of losing that call (the payout is then rounded down to the hundredth, so never more than 2%), so a safe call costs less, and 7% of whatever you bank. More about Ace's Pyramid.
What happens if I call a pair?
The card pushes for free: nothing moves, the pair card is burned, and a fresh card turns for the same call. More about Ace's Pyramid.
Can a call ever be a guaranteed loss?
No. A call that cannot win, such as higher on an ace, is switched off rather than left on the board. More about Ace's Pyramid.
Flip or Fold
Is Flip or Fold really a 75% chance each pick?
Yes, published and true: three of every four chips are safe on a normal pick, with the odds narrowing only on the two vault rungs. More about Flip or Fold.
What happens when I hit a cracked chip?
The run ends, but you are never left with nothing: a cracked chip hands a fifth of your stake back. More about Flip or Fold.
Is one rung a better place to stop than another?
Not on its own: banking at any one rung carries close to the same house edge, between 8.9% and 9.1%. What moves it is the Vault Key, shown the moment you find one; playing it well brings the edge down to 5.87%, the figure we publish as the headline. More about Flip or Fold.
The Flop Slip
Why does the Flop Slip's price change hand to hand?
Because the flop comes off the 50 cards you have not seen, and your own two cards are part of what is left: the board reprices itself for your hand every time you are dealt in. More about The Flop Slip.
What wins each Flop Slip square?
Every square prints what wins it. 2 RED needs exactly two red cards and one black (three red lose it); 2 BLACK needs exactly two black cards and one red (three black lose it). 3 RED and 3 BLACK need all three cards that colour. PAIR pays on any pair, trips included; TRIPS needs all three the same rank. STRAIGHT needs three cards in a row, e.g. 7-8-9 (the ace plays low or high, A-2-3 or Q-K-A, but not K-A-2). FLUSH needs all three cards the same suit. More about The Flop Slip.
What is the house edge on the Flop Slip?
A flat 6% on every market and every hand. The price is rounded down to the penny, never up, so it can never pay more than the true odds allow, which can only nudge the edge up, never above 6.3%. More about The Flop Slip.
What happens if the hand ends before the flop?
Every Flop Slip on that hand is refunded in full. More about The Flop Slip.
What is the smallest Flop Slip stake?
One big blind of the table, and never less than 100 chips: payouts round down to the whole chip, so a tiny stake would lose more than the 6% edge to the rounding. Stakes go up in steps of 100 chips, so every win is paid at exactly the price shown. More about The Flop Slip.
Crown Hand
Do I need to buy in to Crown Hand?
No. Making a straight or better at showdown enters your best hand automatically. More about Crown Hand.
Which hand of mine counts?
Only your single best hand of the day: you can keep improving your entry with every showdown. More about Crown Hand.
When does Crown Hand pay out?
The board settles at midnight UTC, and its paid places, sized by how many players entered, are paid straight to the wallet the next time anyone checks in. More about Crown Hand.
What happens with a tie on Crown Hand?
Ties split evenly: players whose best five cards score exactly the same share the places they cover, and those places’ prizes are added together and divided equally. The 1st-place Vault Run pack and the 2nd- and 3rd-place Flip or Fold flips cannot be cut up, so they go one per place in the order the tied hand was made. More about Crown Hand.
The Vault Run
Is the Vault Run rigged toward duplicates?
No. Every pack’s star-rating odds are printed, and a Mystery pack draws only from cards you do not already own while at least 3 are left to find; with fewer, its spare slots use the printed Standard odds. More about The Vault Run.
How do I get a specific card I am missing?
Duplicate pulls mint shards, and the Card Exchange lets you buy any exact missing card outright with shards: no randomness. More about The Vault Run.
What happens to my cards when the 30-day run ends?
A fresh Vault Run starts immediately; packs in hand and table-earning progress carry over in full, and shards carry over at half. More about The Vault Run.
Can I open all my packs at once?
Yes. Hold two or more packs of one kind and Open all opens every one of them in one go, each with the same printed odds as opening it on its own, then shows one summary: new cards by set, duplicates and the shards they made, any sets completed, and your rare pulls turned over. More about The Vault Run.
Suit League
How do I score league points?
Every big blind you win at a ladder-stake cash table scores a point, up to 100 from any one hand: losing hands score nothing. More about Suit League.
Can I ever drop out of the league entirely?
No. The bottom of each bracket drops a tier, but nobody ever falls out of Clubs, the lowest tier. More about Suit League.
What is the daily leg?
A separate house-wide board using the same points, settling every midnight UTC and paying the top 30% of the day's scorers, up to ten players, straight to the wallet. More about Suit League.
House Specials
Do House Specials use third-party ads?
No. Poker Call never uses ad SDKs or rewarded video: every House Special prize is funded by the house’s own chips. More about House Specials.
How do I make progress on a House Special?
Just play: the same actions Missions track, such as pots won and hands played, also fill House Specials, so one hand can advance several at once. More about House Specials.
How long do I have to claim a finished special?
Until three days after the special closes, then it disappears. More about House Specials.
The House Pass
What is the difference between the free and premium House Pass tracks?
FREE pays every one of the 30 tiers today. PREMIUM pays extra chips on top of every tier, boosts pack, ball and flip rewards, and adds a finale of three gold packs. Premium is bought for one 28-day season at a time: each new season is a new pass. Bought in the last 7 days of a season, it also covers the whole of the next one. More about The House Pass.
How do I earn House Pass points?
From play you are already doing: big blinds won at ladder tables, plus mission, House Special and Crew Chest claims (Crew Chest opens bank 40). More about The House Pass.
What happens if I do not claim a tier before the season ends?
It expires. Claim rewards as you unlock them rather than saving them up. More about The House Pass.
The Club
What exactly do I get with the Club?
A doubled daily streak payout, two premium Tumble balls every day, House Pass Premium for the season, a monthly 40 big blind rung ticket, and no chip-offer pop-ups in the lobby. More about The Club.
What happens if I cancel the Club?
You keep every benefit until the end of the month you have paid for (the Club screen shows the date), then they stop. Nothing you were already granted is clawed back. More about The Club.
Does the Club’s monthly chip grant count against my daily free-chip allowance?
No. It is part of something you paid for, so it is the one grant that does not draw on the daily allowance. More about The Club.
Missions, Streak & Crew Chest
What happens if I miss a day on my streak?
A Streak Shield, if you are holding one, spends automatically and your streak survives untouched. With no shield in the bank, the streak resets to day one. More about Missions, Streak & Crew Chest.
Do I need to organise a group to use Crew Chest?
No. Your crew is your existing friend list: there is no separate roster to manage. More about Missions, Streak & Crew Chest.
What happens if my crew misses the weekly Crew Chest target?
Nobody’s chest pays that week: the bar resets and the next week starts clean. More about Missions, Streak & Crew Chest.
Poker Night
Can anyone with the join code sit down and play?
No. A code puts you on the host’s door list; the host or a co-host still has to let you in. More about Poker Night.
How often does the join code change?
Every week. An old code still only reaches the door: nobody sits down unless the host or a co-host lets them in. More about Poker Night.
How many people can join a Poker Night?
Up to 16 per night, with 6 seats able to sit and play and the rest watching from the rail. Video and quick chat are for the seated players; the rail sees avatars. More about Poker Night.
Will the app remind me when my Poker Night starts?
Yes, if you ask it to. The lobby shows your next night with a Remind Me switch; the reminder fires when the doors open, and you can turn it off from the same place or from Settings. More about Poker Night.
How do I know when my friends are playing?
The lobby shows the live number of people at the tables, never a made-up figure, and when a friend sits down at a public table the app can send you a notification with a link straight to that table. It respects your quiet hours and a daily cap. More about Poker Night.
